Biography: Kermit Frank Tracy, Jr., 83, of Little Rock passed away on December 28, 2013. He was born on June 13, 1930 in Superior, Wisconsin to the late Kermit Frank Tracy and Ruth Grimsrud Tracy. Kermit graduated from Little Rock Senior High School. He excelled in football and baseball during this time. He earned ?All State? honors as Coach Wilson Matthew?s first quarterback for the Tigers at LR Senior High in 1947. He was a baseball pitcher for the Little Rock Doughboys at Lamar Porter Field and he was pitching for the LR Doughboys when they were the runner up team for the National Championship in 1947. Kermit graduated from Columbia University in New York in 1952. He continued to excel in sports with the Columbia Lions as a football quarterback and baseball pitcher. After graduation Kermit joined the United States Air Force and trained as a pilot and continued on as a flight instructor from 1952 to 1956. He then joined American Airlines as a pilot for the next five years. It was during this time that he met his wife, Nancy, who worked for American Airlines as a ?stewardess? in Dallas. He returned to Little Rock and had a full career in the insurance business and was an avid tennis player. His favorite activity was being involved with the ?Wilson?s Tigers Group?, a group of men who played for Coach Wilson Matthews at Little Rock Senior/Central High School, during the years of 1947 to 1957. Kermit is survived by his wife, Nancy; daughter, Cary; son, Frank; daughter-in-law, Annette; and granddaughters, Eryn and Morgan. A memorial service will be held at St. Mark?s Episcopal Church on Tuesday, January 7, 2013 at 2 p.m. A private graveside will be held at Forest Hills Memorial Park. I fondly remember Mr. Tracy and his lending me his Fender Stratocaster and Fender amplifier when I was just starting guitar back in 1972-3. He was a fine man and I am glad to have known him. Please accept our condolences and know you will be in our prayers.
