She and I shared and learned so much from each other when we were young (fuzzy navels, going down the road, laughter, tears, and crazy adventures). Each of us has our own recollections yet the commonality is Karen. I hope that the sadness we feel now will fade with time and our remembrances will bring joy.

It is with great sadness that I write this note and offer my deepest condolences to Karen's family and close friends. I will never forget her infectious laugh and the comical situations in which we'd find ourselves over the years. A police station in Durham where Karen & Dan retrieved me after a graduation party noise complaint landed me there. A precarious road connecting Athens & Istanbul where passing each produce-laden truck required a game of 'chicken' with oncoming traffic. An off-the-beaten path restaurant where we had to point and mime our way into getting a good meal since none of us spoke Greek or Turkish. I am truly grateful to have known Karen and am so sorry she is no longer with us.

So many memories come rushing back, and I'm still reeling from how abruptly and prematurely she left us. In the future, I look forward to coming across all the photos and other remembrances I have of the riotous times we had together at Duke, Oxford, London, Boston, Newport, Myrtle Beach, Little Rock, and most recently, back at Duke again.
But I can safely say that I'll think of her often, whenever I notice the trace of the scar between my eyes, which she gave my by dropping a Diet Coke can on my forehead.
I was fortunate to know her.
My deepest condolences to Paul and Lila. I hope someday to reminisce with you about her, because she was a Super Nova.

Karen and I met in 1994 as we startedRace For the Cure; her passion and support were instrumental in the fight against breast cancer in AR. She was such fun and I am so sad to learn of her death. My condolences to her family
