About a quarter-of-a-century ago, I was delivering some flyers through our neighborhood and knocked on the door of Mr. Starne's Mother's house. Mrs. S. arrived at the threshold in her wheelchair, spry and happy to have company. After I handed her the papers and talked a bit, she took note I had my baby in a stroller at the bottom of her steps. She asked if she could hold him. When I placed the tiny fellow in her lap, she cooed and hugged him - then suddenly looked up and said: "He is almost as lovely as my own son was 75 years ago." I asked how old she was and the reply was somewhere in her 90s... She also added: "Our son was the most wonderful boy in the world!"
Isn't that a beautiful memory to add to the legacy of this man's life.
Our sympathies to all the family.

Mr. Starnes always had a smile on his face. I was so blessed to grow up hunting with him when i was a young boy & always aspired to have such a great attitude that Mr. Starnes carried with him everywhere. I wish i could go on just one more hunt with such a great man. My condolences are with the Knighten & family.
