Biography: Carol Ann Crabtree Penick died peacefully surrounded by her family on Tuesday, June 11, 2013. She was born on January 25, 1947, in Little Rock to her beloved parents, the late Ted and Dorothy Crabtree. She graduated from Little Rock Central High and attended Arkansas State Teachers College. While there, she earned a Master?s degree in English and was a member of the Alpha Sigma Tau sorority. Carol Ann taught English at Parkview High School for six years before deciding to stay home and raise her children. She later went back to work in the residential real estate business. She was known as the ?Downtown Diva,? because she found a special niche for selling downtown Little Rock Victorian homes. Carol Ann enjoyed a long career working with her friends and colleagues at Adkins, McNeill, Smith & Associates. Although she enjoyed her work life, her primary passion was her family. She embraced the role as ?Zsa Zsa? to her three grandchildren. Carol Ann?s most treasured times were those spent at the beach with her family. She loved walks on the beach, outlet mall shopping, and polishing off an entire key lime pie with a Diet Coke. Carol Ann was a member of Pulaski Heights United Methodist Church where she enjoyed worshipping with her church family and being a member of the ?Pew Crew?. She also enjoyed gardening and grew the most beautiful hydrangeas in town. She is survived by her children, Edward ?Ted? Penick III and his wife, Jill and Erica Penick Kimball and her husband, David. She has three grandchildren, Ted, Worth, and Cate Penick. She is also survived by her sister, Pat Dillahunty, her two nephews, Lew and Bryan Dillahunty, and her Lhasa Apso, Heidi. Her family and friends will miss her beautiful smile, colorful wardrobe, and larger than life personality. If you ever met Carol Ann Penick, you would never forget her. The family would like to thank the doctors, nursing, and staff at UAMS and her devoted caregivers (Dorothy, Janie, Emma, and Pearl) for their love and support. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Pulaski Heights United Methodist Church Worship Ministries, 4823 Woodlawn, Little Rock, Arkansas, 72205. Visitation will be held at Ruebel Funeral Home on Thursday, June 13, 2013 from 5 to 7 p.m. A memorial service will be held at Pulaski Heights United Methodist Church on Friday, June 14, 2013 at 11 a.m. followed by a reception. Arrangements by Ruebel Funeral Home, www.ruebelfuneralhome.com.

Ted and Erica,
Your Mother was a beautiful person, I got to know her well when your family lived across the street in Shady Valley. Her true passion in life was the two of you!
She was a fabulous person both inside and out, and would light up a room with her personality and smile.
There was never a project that she did half way it was always all out!
Remember the GREAT memories that you made with her!

May Peace be with all of you,
Marsha and Marty Martin

Pat, my heart goes out to you and the rest of the family in this great loss. I've always felt "related" to the Crabtree's because of Aunt Dottie. The families have remained close through the years. Please know you have been in my prayers this week and in the many weeks previous. May you find peace in sweet memories.

My heart goes out to Carol Ann's family. What a heartbreaking loss. Carol Ann and I share so many wonderful memories of college and sisterhood. We, along with others in our Alpha Tau pledge class, really grew up together. She was a good and beautiful person. The world will be less beautiful without Carol Ann in it.

She was an amazing teacher...I have never forgotten her and the things, other than English, that she taught me, like how I was going to behave like a young man when I was in her class. I did behave in her classn because of the respect I had for her. Heaven has another beauty!

My thoughts and prayers are with Carol Ann's family. I first met your Mom when she was a teacher at Parkview High School. All of us, both girls and boys were in awe of her beauty. I then was lucky enough to have a professional relationship with Carol Ann in real estate. Carol Ann was always the epitomy of a beautiful Southern lady.

I graduated from Central and went to college with
Carol Ann. I was in the same dorm and floor
with Carol our freshman year. She was so pretty,
smart, and always had a smile on her face. In
high school, she was always waiting outside the
door waiting for David to come out. I always wanted to know how she managed getting out of class before everyone else did. Carol Ann
will be missed and my thoughts and prayers are
with all the family members.

Carol Ann was such a special person. I knew her growing up in Little Rock and then we became sorority sisters in college. I have so many warm memories of her. She wasn't just beautiful, she was kind and loads of fun. I spent an afternoon with her less than a year ago and we spent most of it laughing. I feel blessed to have been a part of her life. I will keep all of you in my prayers.

Carol Ann was always one of my favorite big sisters. She was beautiful both inside and out. Her love of life, kind and generous spirit made a huge impression on me and left me with beautiful memories. My heart goes out to her family, especially, her grandchildren who obviously cherished her and will miss having her guide their own children some day. Always remember she was a bright star that touched so many lives. Our Heaven is brighter place tonight because of her entry as one God's most beautiful angels. God bless you all and know she will be watching over each of you always.

One of my favorite college memories of Carol Ann was when she would stand behind LCT (Little Connie Tucker) and they would share the only mirror in each dorm room. That was also the case with me and my roommate, Sandy Crabtree. It was wonderful to see her in 2011 and reconnect many memories. Heaven grows sweeter with each we know that arrive before us. No, the real estate in Heaven has already been assigned so guess she will be a very lovely angel forever.
