So many special memories with Nancy...
-as far back as elementary school days dressing up like funny ladies and non stop laughing.
- We would talk on the phone for hours as adults and I would beg her to come over with a chocolate bar in hand. She often followed the instructuions.
-Nancy never spoke in a negative way about anyone. She rarely had a complaint.
- She was so proud of her Father and I think the twinkle in his eye.
-My grandmother adored her and I always will. Love and miss you, Alison

Nancy was one of the finest people I have had the honor of knowing. We were first friends and sorority sisters at SMU and later worked together for the State of Arkansas. She was not only highly intelligent and multi-talented, she was exceedingly warm and genuine to EVERYBODY who crossed her path. I will not try here to tell you the many examples of her kindness, generosity and wry humor, because no words could convey the feelings she imparted to others. I simply will tell you that I was blessed to know her and will until my own dying day count her as one of the best, in every way possible.

My love to her dear family.

Go back in time to around 1966 or so. Think for just a moment about the dreaded Junior Cotillion with Ms. Butts and the Holly Ball in the Marion Hotel?s Ballroom. Have I set the stage for you? Well, I was there, and I ended up spending the last part of the evening having to dance with a pretty girl I had never seen before. As some pre-pubescent boys tend to be, I had no clue how to talk to a girl, much less how to dance with one. I was far from the perfect dance partner?.so much in fact, that as the dance drew to an end and I was leaving, someone kicked me in my leg. It was my dance partner ?gently? making her point that I was no Fred Astaire. It really, really hurt! 45+ years later, I can still feel that kick though I have to say I have more of a smile on my face now than I did when it took place. Later, I moved up to Pulaski Heights Junior High, and I once again met my high-kicking Ginger Rogers. You know where I?m going with this, right? ?Ginger? turned out to be the very kind, always pleasant Nancy Mitchell. We went on and graduated together from Central High, and I considered her to be a friend. I recently received a notice of our upcoming 40th LRCHS reunion, and I was thinking of some of the folks I would truly love to see. Nancy was one of those folks. I knew she left employment with the State, and I had lost contact with her. I was so very saddened to see her obituary in today?s paper. Just as I could have guessed, she appears to have led a very happy and successful life surrounded with good friends and family. I hope that the good memories of their all too brief time with Nancy will help sustain her friends and family in the future.

I had the privilege to meet Nancy when she and my mother were roommates at St. Vincent's Rehab North. She was so kind and such a sweet person. I wish that I had had the opportunity to know her better and longer that those few days that they were roommates. She sure hated to have to miss "tax season" while she was in there. The last time I saw her, she was having to go back to St. Vincent over in Little Rock because of a fever and had waited almost all day to go, but I remember she was in very good spirits as they came and got her. She was always very gracious to us even when she didn't feel very good. I know now that she no longer is in pain and I pray for her family at this time. Lisa Smith

Dear girl -- special in so many ways! My memories go back so far -- our childhood -- spending the night on Crestwood Drive -- carpools through the high school years -- and then our "college days" at UT. Happy in every way...we always found things to giggle at. We've been through it all. Forever...you hold a special place in my heart. Forever...you will be missed.
