Biography: Avis Hutchison Mitchell, 61, died peacefully in her sleep Sunday, March 3rd, 2013 at home. A loving mother, she leaves behind her children, Jay (Sara) Mitchell and Meredith Mitchell Leal (Josh), her grandchildren, Eden Leal and Jack Mitchell, along with her pre-K students at Rockefeller Elementary School. Born and raised in Little Rock, Avis was the daughter of the late Dr. and Mrs. Walter E. Hutchison II. Avis attended Hall High School and the University of Arkansas at Little Rock where she received a degree in early education. Avis taught at Stephens Elementary, Washington Elementary and most recently at Rockefeller Elementary. She is also survived by her brother Walter E. Hutchison III and a number of extended family members. Avis? life was devoted to her faith, her family and her many lifelong friends. In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that donations be sent in memory of Avis Mitchell to the Arkansas Hunger Alliance. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, March 6 from 5 ? 7 p.m. at Ruebel Funeral Home.
