Biography: William “Bill” Vickery, Jr., age 57, of Little Rock, died Friday, October 20, 2006. He was born on February 24, 1949 in Hackensack, New Jersey. After high school, Bill attended The Julliard School for Performing Arts in New York. He was formerly the executive director of the Florida Philharmonic Orchestra, president and managing director the St. Paul, Minnesota Chamber Orchestra, director of the National Endowment for the Arts’ music program, executive vice president of the Aspen, Colorado Music Festival and School, and orchestra manager at Julliard. Currently, he was the executive director of the Arkansas Symphony Orchestra. Bill was the 2004 recipient of the Non-Profit Executive of the Year award by the Arkansas Business of the Year. Bill was preceded in death by his father, William Vickery, Sr. Survivors include his wife, Leslie Hirschberg Vickery; sons, Benjamin Matthew Vickery and Samuel Aaron Vickery, both of Boca Raton, Florida; stepchildren, Daniel Olah and Emily Olah, both of Little Rock; his mother, Virginia Vickery; and a sister, Susan Vickery. A celebration of Bill's life will be held on Monday, Nov. 6, at 12:00 noon, at the William J. Clinton Library. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to the Arkansas Symphony Orchestra, 2417 North Tyler St., Little Rock, 72207.
