Biography: William Mills Murphey of Little Rock born April 27, 1915 passed away on December 29, 2012. He was a graduate of Little Rock High School in 1932 and Georgia Tech in 1936. Following graduation he began working for AP&L where he retired from in 1980 as a Senior Vice President. As a WWII veteran, he entered military service in 1941 as a Lieutenant and was honorably discharged from service in 1946 as Lieutenant Colonel. To his family he was the consummate husband, father, and grandfather and lovingly referred to as Daddy and Granddaddy. He taught both daughters and granddaughter how to do algebra and drive among many other life skills. He loved people, never met a stranger, and was a friend to many. Following retirement from AP&L he was a volunteer for several organizations including: Arkansas Children?s Hospital, UAMS, CALS, and the American Red Cross. He is preceded in death by his wife Jenny Pope Murphey and great-grandson Henry John. He is survived by two daughters Diane (Kit) Williamson of Merritt Island, Florida; Margaret ?Peggie? (Lewis) Machen of Little Rock, Arkansas; granddaughters Merritt (Sabrina) Maham; Jennifer Hoelzeman, and a great granddaughter Elizabeth Clare of Little Rock.
