Martha was preceded in death by her husband of 36 years, Richard Carlton Hardin (Mayflower, AR). Her parents, Harriette Elizabeth Malone Smith (Benton, AR), J. Dean Smith (Memphis,TN) and a brother, G. Ross Smith (Little Rock). She is survived by three daughters, Leah Michele Ludwig, Elizabeth Nicole Miller, and Heather Lynn Hardin; three grandchildren, Kole Ludwig, Carly Miller and Lillian Williams, two nephews, Greg and Stuart Smith (Houston, TX), and her sister-in-law, Adarose Carter (Houston, TX). Martha was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution, Provincia de la Sal Chapter of Benton. She graduated from Central High School in 1956. She received her Associates degree from Arkansas State Teachers College and was a member of Alpha Sigma Tau Sorority. She served on the North Little Rock's City Beautiful Commission and was a patient representative volunteer at the North Little Rock Baptist Memorial Hospital. She also served as a volunteer in the office at Lakewood United Methodist Church. Martha and Carlton were charter members at Western Hills Country Club where they enjoyed playing golf together until his death in 1997. Later in life she reunited with a childhood friend, Richard Adair, who was very special to her. The family extends special gratitude to neighbors, family, friends, Arkansas Hospice and Chenal Heights for their love and exceptional service. What a beautiful picture of Martha! That's the way I will remember her with her brilliant smile and lovely dimples, accompanied by a joyful laugh. She was a big part of my life since we started our lunch and bridge group over 25 years ago. Martha would get out her cookbooks and try something new for us and set the table with her good china. I remember an 11-year old Heather coming in from school. Our little group went through many happy times and many sad times and changes together. Martha will live on in our memories.

Dear family of Martha Hardin--

We were dear friends with Carlton and Ada Rose's mother and father, Mr. and Mrs. Carly Hardin in Mayflower. They were neighbors of our and Ms. Flo spent wonderful hours with my mother, Dene Graham, prior to their passing. Please give our regards to Ada Rose.

We were saddened to see the obituary of Martha and yes, happy that she no longer lives with Alzheimers. So sorry for your loss and sorry we have not been in your presence for so very long. We read the obituary too late to come to the memorial. Mrs. Flora Hardin was so very fond of her granddaughters, Heather, Nicole, and Michelle!! I know your Mother will be missed. We pray you have a good Thanksgiving and Christmas and remember your Mom and Dad and family with loving memories.

If you should ever come this way to Mayflower, please drop in and see us. We're at 23 Center Road. You're in our prayers!

Michele,
What a beautiful tribute to your mother. She sounds like she lived a life with wonderful friends and family, sharing her time and talent with others in community service as well.

Heaven is a better place with now. I pray you'll be comforted in knowing she is reunited with your father and others who have gone before her.

Peace to you and your lovely family.

The passing of a long time, best friend is a grievous loss. Consolation is knowing that Martha has broken the bondage of Alzheimers and is at peace with her Lord and Savior. I pray that her family will be blessed with comfort and with love that will sustain them at this time of need.

Dear Martha, I will hold you in my heart and soul until we meet again.

Love, Lynda

Heather,
We love you and will be praying for you. We all need God to guide as through the tough days. The more we need him, the closer he is. God's love is constant. Remind your precious daughter often of the great love her grandmother has for her.
With deepest sympathy,
Beverly and Terry Paff
