Biography: Genevieve Adele (Gene) Johnson, of Little Rock, Arkansas, died Wednesday, October 17, 2012 at the age of 89. She was born in Chicago, IL on October 25, 1922 to Richard and Else Gehrung. She is preceded in death by her husband of 36 years, Arthur W. Johnson who passed away in 1982. She is survived by her daughters, Lynne Johnson of Arlington, TX and Gayle Labor and husband, Dr. Earle Labor of Shreveport, LA; her son, Richard Johnson of Little Rock, AR; her grandchildren, Clint, Daniel, Jacob, Sarah, and Andrea; and great-grand-daughter, Jocelynn. Gene retired from the VA at age 70. She loved to travel and to be by the water having traveled around the world. She also sang baritone with the Little Rock chapter of Sweet Adeline?s for over 30 years and was a member of Westover Hills Presbyterian Church. Gene had a beautiful smile and will be dearly missed by her family and friends. A private service will be held by the family. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Presbyterian Village, Arkansas Hospice, or to the charity of the donor?s choice.
