Biography: The Rev. Dr. William Andrew McWeeny, 74, of Little Rock, passed away on Wednesday, October 10, 2012. Bill was born on July 22, 1938 in Memphis, TN. He attended Rhodes College (formerly Southwestern at Memphis) where he met his future wife, Dorothy ("Dot") Sieplein from Dallas, TX. He graduated from Lyon College (formerly Arkansas College) in Batesville, and earned a Master of Divinity and a Doctorate of Ministry in Homiletics from Austin Presbyterian Theological Seminary. Bill was a retired Presbyterian minister, a call which he faithfully answered each day since his ordination in 1965. Over the years he served churches in MO, TN, AR, and AL. He was active in interim ministry and in the work of the Presbyteries of North Alabama and Arkansas. He would say, though, that his greatest accomplishment, joy, and earthly reward is his 53-year marriage with Dot. Together they raised two daughters. Bill was preceded in death by his parents, Andrew John McWeeny, Jr. and Pearl Hodges McWeeny. He is survived by his wife Dot, two daughters, Beth McWeeny (Philip Gallaher) and Shannon Taylor (Chip); one brother, Michael McWeeny (Anne) of Ashville, NC; two sisters, Andra Northup (Mary) of Davis, CA and Kathy Forte (Don) of Memphis, TN; four adored and cherished grandchildren; two great grandchildren; nieces, nephews, cousins, and countless friends. A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, October 16, 2012 at 10:30 a.m. at Westover Hills Presbyterian Church, officiated by the Revs. Michael Kuner and David Dyer. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Westover Hills Presbyterian Church or a charity of your choice. Arrangements by Ruebel Funeral Home, www.ruebelfuneralhome.com.

Dot, I have been blessed so many times by the music Bill helped with at Cursillo and Pilgrimage, Seranades and Ultreyas. I am so sorry I could not be there for the funeral. May God continue to bless you and keep you as you make this transition. You will remain in my prayers.

Dot, thinking of you and your family during this difficult time. It was a blessing to know Bill and have him as a Sunday School teacher. He was man of great knowledge, but great humility.
