Biography: Dorothy Lorraine Garrett Woods, 89, departed this life on October 1, 2006. Dorothy was a lifelong resident of Little Rock, a city she loved and supported by her enthusiasm for the local arts and other community organizations. She served as an election worker for many years, was a volunteer radio reader at the Arkansas School for the Blind and was also a longtime member of the Little Rock Musical Coterie. She was active in her church, St. James United Methodist, and shared her gift of music as a faithful member of the Chancel Choir as well as participating in her Agape Sunday School Class. Dorothy and her husband Tim traveled the world extensively, and after retirement often went on trips with members of LifeQuest. Her knowledge and love of plants and flowers was evident to all who visited her home. She was an avid bridge player, and loved playing varieties of games with her children and grandchildren at family gatherings. Dorothy is survived by her husband Timothy Edward Woods, her brother, David Claybourne Garrett Jr. (Mary Lu) of Russellville, AR and her children Edward Garrett Woods (Ann) of San Antonio, TX, Timothy David Woods (Gayle) of Montgomery, TX and Nancy Ellen Woods of Des Moines, IA. She also leaves six grandchildren: Brian Timothy Woods (Meredith) of San Antonio, TX, David Garrett Woods (Sarah) of Beaumont, TX, Jennifer Ashley Heard (Clinton) of Dickinson, TX, Michael Timothy Woods (Tami) of Honolulu, HI, and Laura Kristen McQuinn (Christopher) of Round Rock, TX. She was also blessed with seven great-grandchildren as well as one niece, three nephews, and their spouses and children. Dorothy Woods had an incredible joy and passion for life which will always remain as an indelible imprint on the hearts of her family and friends. A service celebrating her life will be held at St. James United Methodist Church on Friday, October 6, at 10:00AM, burial will follow in Roselawn Memorial Park.
