Biography: Lois Haygood Vines, 86, stepped over into the arms of God on September 22, 2006. Lois was born to Rubin Virgil and Jessie McDougald Haygood on February 2, 1920 in the Crossroads Community in Bradley County. Lois spent her youth and school days in Star City, Arkansas. She was beautiful inside and outside and was chosen as Miss Pink Tomato of Bradley County when she was in High School. Most of her adult years were spent in Little Rock where she raised her family with her husband, Marvin Vines, who was a radio and television personality and was the first inductee into the Arkansas Agricultural Hall of Fame. Lois was a devoted wife and mother to her five children. She loved her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, large extended family and treasured her many friends. Her faith was deep and Lois reflected God’s love to everyone she encountered. Lois was a lifelong Baptist. Although the family attended Pulaski Heights Baptist for a period of time, her membership and home church was Immanuel Baptist where Lois was a devoted member and volunteer for many years. In her later years she looked forward every Sunday to the Tele-Bible class at Immanuel. It has been said that everyone who ever met Lois fell in love with her. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends. Lois is survived by her children and their spouses: Jim and Linda Vines of Little Rock, Tommye Lou and Don Davis of Waco, Texas, John and Elizabeth Vines of Germantown, Tennessee, Becky and Don Saulters of Memphis, Tennessee, and Sheila Elrod of Little Rock; her brother and sister-in-law, R. V. and Gwen Haygood, and sisters, Johnnie Mac Beyer, Ruth Meeks, Billie Jo White and Onita McFalls. She is survived by eleven beloved grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren as well as a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Visitation will be 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Monday at Ruebel Funeral Home. Memorial services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday in the Chapel at Immanuel Baptist Church officiated by Rev. Dr. Rex M. Horne, Jr. Burial of ashes will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorials should be made in her memory to Immanuel Baptist Church, 501 N. Shackleford, Little Rock, 72211.
