Biography: On Monday May 29, 2012, after 89 fruitful years, Loree Annie Tatum Olinghouse closed the final chapter of her life in Little Rock, AR and moved on to spend eternity with her personal Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. She was preceded in death by her husband Phil Olinghouse, Sr. and her sister, Maree Tatum Cross. She is survived by her son and his wife, Phil and Penny Olinghouse, her daughter and her husband, Pam and John Holm and five grandchildren ? Lacey and Jay Caldwell, Tate Olinghouse, Katie Holm and Jordan Holm. Of great importance to Loree, she is also temporarily leaving her five great grandchildren who will remember she thought of them often, always arrived with a special treat and was known to them simply as ?O? - Stella, Kennedy, Virginia and Campbell Caldwell and Beck Olinghouse. She is also survived by her sister-in-law Ms. Georgia Olinghouse and her dedicated friends including Hilda Hudland, Carolyn Harmon and Hazel Waters. Loree was born to Lester and Annie Tatum in Noble, LA. She was a product of strong family and her values were forged by her experience in the Great Depression. She was very proud of her family and was fond of telling how her family?s general store almost ?went broke? giving away goods to those who were needy during that most challenging time. This was a lesson in life she carried to the end. She was intelligent and attended Northwestern State University. Upon moving to Arkansas she wed her husband for 46 years and demonstrated her deep love through her dedicated care for him in his final years. All during this time she was a strong working woman, notably, she spent over 15 years at the Arkansas State Board of Nursing. She was a member of Immanuel Baptist Church for 50 years and active in the Phebean Sunday School Class. She loved to play bridge, where she viewed herself as quite the talented player. Loree?s friends would describe her as the seemingly ordinary woman who lived an extraordinary life with her main goal being to serve the Lord. She was always doing kind things for others and nothing brought her more joy than giving. She was an excellent cook, with a talent for hospitality. In addition, she blessed all who knew her with an outstanding, unforgettable sense of humor. If ever a verse was appropriate for Loree at this time it would be 2nd Timothy Ch4, v7: ?I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.? A special debt of gratitude is expressed from Loree?s family to the staff and caregivers at Briarwood Nursing Home. The funeral service will be held at Immanuel Baptist Church on Thursday May 31st at 12pm and officiated by Dr. Rex Horne. Family will receive visitors at Ruebel Funeral Home on Markham from 5pm- 7pm on Wednesday May 30th. In lieu of flowers or gifts, please send memorials to the Immanuel Baptist Church building Fund. Arrangements by Ruebel Funeral Home, www.ruebelfuneralhome.com.

Phil and family...my prayers are with you at this time. I don't know if you were aware, but my precious Mother and your Mother spent time together at the Doctors Hospital Rehab about 5-6 months ago. They sat together during meal time and had the best time visiting. They enjoyed each other so much. My Mother went to Heaven almost 3 months ago and now they are enjoying each other eating together again, fully alive and full of joy...love, Janie....

Phil and Pam:

Gosh, we go back so far!!! From the times at Tyler Street Baptist Church all the way thru Central High. Our Moms always enjoyed each other from church activities to bridge. Loree was an inspiration to our family in many ways. She was with my Mom when my father, AC passed away. She brought a cake over just to say "Hi, I'm thinking of you" and while she was there, my father passed away. What a blessing from God that she was there. My Mom is still living, although she has severe dimentua and is in a nursing home. She has been there for over 9 years now. God Bless both of you and your children. Loree will be missed.

To Loree's Family - I wish I had the words to tell you how much Loree meant to me through the
years. We kept the telephone lines busy and the fun we had when we loaded the car up and went to the Dixie Cafe every Tuesday night for dinner. But - "Just think..Of stepping on shore and finding it Heaven, Of touching a hand and finding it God's, Of breathing new air and finding it celestial, Of waking up in glory and finding it home." Love You - Gertrude

Mrs. Olinghouse and Phil Sr. were a strong Christian influence on the youth of Tyler Street Baptist Church. It is a lifelong blessing to have known Loree. She was a strong personality committed to making life better for her children. She fought the good fight, kept the faith, and finished the race ... in style.

Phil and Pam - I am so sorry to hear about the loss of your Mother. My fondest memories were of her being our "spiritual" guide on choir tour. We couldn't pull the bus out until Mrs. Olinghouse had a devotion and prayer - I'm sure that her prayers each morning were more of asking God to not let her and the other adults "kill" us for all the things we did and did not do. God only knows we gave them reason to consider "killing" us. How blessed we were to grow up on Christian homes and now we can rest assured knowing that these saints are standing in the presence of the "living" God.

Many times I visited with her when visiting with the VanZandts. I have fond memories of her distinctive voice, wonderful laugh and her words of wisdom dispensed at their kitchen table. Praying for all of you in this difficult time.

Miss Loree was a part of our fabric, she invested in all of us and I will always have very dear memories of her among the best of Mao's friends. I am blessed to have known her and smiling just thinking about the two of them embracing each other and sharing stories now.

It is hard to recall a time that I visited my grandmother and didn?t get to see Miss Loree also. Almost always, I would walk in the back door and see them sitting at the kitchen table playing cards. Sometimes they would even let me play, but never let me win.
I loved that she called my grandma out! She would begin by saying ?Now, Buie?? and then continue on with her side of a debate. She was a definite influence on my life, and I learned a lot about how to be a strong woman, a great friend, and the importance of laughter by spending time with her.
I feel so blessed and so lucky to have been loved by Miss Loree.
Love to you all, Mandy
