We are saddened to learn the news of Miltons untimely death. We have such happy memories of him in Memphis, when we were neighbors of Milton, Dawn and Jake in Central Gardens. Jake and our son, Christopher are the same age. Please know we are praying for your family and thinking of you.

We were floored and saddened to learn of the untimely death of our friend, Milton. Most of our dealings with Milton, was in Taekwondo class. He was instrumental in helping me as we'll as other students attain our Black belts. He was always willing to help out in answering any questions and going over forms. He always had something funny help us learn. He loved life and people which was evident upon every interaction with him. He wanted the best from everyone he came in contact with. I was looking forward to seeing him in class, but the good Lord decided to return one of his angles back to the heavens. He was a true representation of his family and profession.

Milton introduced me to great music and nice clothes. He was a dedicated physician and a perfectionist in all he did. He was an impeccable dresser and I was always proud of him. I met him while he was in medical school. He was my best friend. I am confident that he is in total peace in the loving arms of our heavenly Father. He will be missed by all of us whose life he touched, especially those of us who loved him. Marci Alvis

So sorry to read of the death of your son, Milton. I have been out of town and just sat down to read my accumulated newspapers and just read of his death. Although I haven't seen or talked to you in a long time, I know how proud you were of your boys when they were growing up. I will keep you and Glenna and his wife and son in my prayers.

In September 2008, I responded to a simple newspaper advertisement for a medical secretary. The advertisement had been placed to fill the position of secretary to Dr. Barrett at The Greenbrier Clinic. I didn?t have much faith in my own abilities. At 45 years old, I had waited until my children were raised to enter the workforce. I had trained in medical transcription in an online course, and I had only ever transcribed from my home. Dr. Barrett reviewed my very small resume and asked me what I would do if I didn?t get the job. I said I would keep editing and transcribing from home. He asked me if I was enjoying working from home. I told him I wanted to get out more. He shook my hand and said he was happy to meet me. I was hired that day. From that day on, he called me his buddy. He brought me a cup of his own special fresh ground coffee every morning. He treated me and everyone who entered his office with friendship and kindness. He was a man of great value. My heart is crushed by his passing.

I have had the pleasure of knowing and practicing medicine with Milton for the last 8 years. I don't need to say what a remarkable person and physician he was. I will always treasure the time my family and I had with him.
There has been a quiet sadness in the clinic this past week over this loss. For his family, especially Jake I pray that the wonderful memories of father, son and husband will give peace in their hearts. For his memorial service today, I hope for celebration of his most precious life.
With most sincere sympathy,
Suzanne, Rick, Richard, Elizabeth and Catharine Romeo

Its difficult to express with words the sadness my heart feels for the loss of Dr. Barrett. He fought a tough fight with this rare cancer. It's hard to believe hat we were just remarking a week ago at how good he was looking. His death came as such a shock to all of us. The Lord is our refuge and our strength. My comfort comes from the knowledge that he is in the arms of our savior. As we grieve our loss, we look forward to the day that we are reunited again with those that have gone ahead. He was an intelligent, kind, caring Radiologist who loved his son Jake dearly. I will miss his smile and am thankful to have known him. Prayers to his family and all who knew him. God Bless.

Every life Milton ever touched is diminished by his passing. He put his heart into every endeavor.
Although his family and I have been long-time good friends, I knew him best as a member of the Pine Bluff High yearbook staff, for which I served as the adviser. His happy disposition and meticulous work made him invaluable to the staff and to me.
My prayers are with his wife and son and his mother and dad.

Laura and I will miss our friend and WV neighbor Milton very much. We have had less contact in the past year after moving south, but I truly enjoyed working with Milton over 7 years. We also enjoyed many a talk when we met walking or jogging on our common road. He was a joy to be with, and highly skilled in his profession. To Jake and Dawn, we pray you can dwell in the heart during this transition and be at peace.

Milton was my friend and colleague as well as my patient at The Greenbrier Clinic. He was a great addition to the Clinic and will be missed by us all. He was always a kind and caring physician. His absence is difficult to grasp, it came so suddenly. Hopefully the sadness shared by all of his personal as well as his Clinic family will soon be replaced by the cherished memories of this wonderful person.

Milton was a good friend in high school. Although we lost touch after those high school days, reading the other entries here confirms what I knew then, that he would be a sucessful person in whatever he did. My thoughts and prayers are with the family.

Dr. Barrett was a wonderful colleague. He was justly proud of his professional work. I enjoyed trying to solve patient's problems with him, sharing mealtimes and common concerns with him during the nearly 5 years I was privileged to work with him at the Greenbrier Clinic. I enjoyed watching him interact with his son, Jake. He cared deeply for him. Milton showed much courage and strength through his illness and other adversities. I wish Jake and his surviving family well as they move beyond the unfathomable loss of Milton Barrett.

We were greatly shocked and saddened to learn that Milton died. I was fortunate enough to have worked closely with him over the past eight years and will miss him greatly, personally and professionally. He was an outstanding physician and radiologist - all the more outstanding for the personal interest he took in his patients. It's a rare radiologist who will physically examine his patients, but this was his routine if he thought it would lead to a better diagnosis. And we shared many long conversations about medicine, as well as life and its twists and turns. I know personally of his great love for his family, especially his son, Jake. God Bless his family and God Bless us all. The Clinic is diminished without him.
