Dan and I were friends in Junior High School and High School. We kept in contact for some years after college. I just saw this posting and wanted to offer my condolences to the Sheehan Family on their loss. Dan was a one of a kind person who always made me laugh. My deepest regrets. Bill

It breaks my heart to hear of Dan's passing. When we purchased our house two doors down and began working on it, Dan was one of the first people, if not the first person, to welcome us to the neighborhood. My wife and I chatted with him about the neighborhood and old houses and he even showed me his compost pile, which he was very proud of (rightfully so). Chats with him was a bright spot in many hot, sweaty days while we were working on the house. I'm going to miss looking up and seeing him walk my way.

Susan, it has been many years, but I enjoyed knowing Dan when you and I worked together. He was always so entertaining at gatherings and your "Dan" stories were some of the funniest ever. May his memory be a blessing - I know it is.

Dear "St. Susan",

I'm so sorry to hear of Dan's death, but I cannot help but reflect on your positive influence on him. Before you married Dan, he was impossible to work with. You "tamed the beast" in him and rightfully earned the awe and admiration of many of at NCTR with his transition. Because of that for many of us you became "St. Susan".

Dan was a very unique and intelligent person and it was very sad to observe his mental deterioration with time. But you had to deal with it on a daily basis and did so with courage and devotion.

God Bless you Susan. He's got to have a special place for you some day.

Susan,

I am so sorry to hear about Dan's passing. Though it's been decades since I saw him or you. I have many fond thoughts of Dan when we worked together at NCTR and when he visited Bill and me in Virginia in 1989. He was a really funny talented guy.

Sincerely,

Dan's daughter, Catherine, is married to our son, Matt. We will never forget the pride and joy on his face as he walked her down the grassy isle at their wedding in his Panama hat and feathered tie. What a character he was! Our love and good thoughts go out to Susan and the Sheehan family, especially for Catherine, Anne, and Olivia.

Susan and family,

I was so saddened to hear of Dan's illness and his ultimate passing. Years ago we lived just a few streets away from you downtown, and I enjoyed visiting with Dan so much. I loved his wit! I met him through other friends, and I always had fun when I got to see him. I have been thinking of him a great deal the last couple of days, and I will continue to think of you, especially as you adjust to his absence. Take care of yourselves and each other. I will miss Dan, too.

Susan and Dan's family

Dan was our memorable mentor. His talent and humor were beyond those of ordinary people. The atmosphere was always filled with laughter and joy when he was around. Dinner with Dan was always filled with laughter, even during the late stages of his Alzheimer's. Humor was in his genes. He was one of the most bright, talented, and humorous people that we have ever known. We will miss him so much.

In most times, the people who remain will bear the sorrow; please take care of yourselves!

Sincerely,

Weida and Hong

Sheehan family, kindly accept our deepest sympathies in this time of mourning. Take comfort in the fact that Dan is in a better place today, no more pain, no more sorrow. Celebrate the joyritaritativ of his life not the sadness of his passing. Remember that someday we will be together.

Susan and family,
My deepest condolences on Dan's passing. Every time I put on a pair of the earrings he fashioned, I will think of him. His passing is just another sad footnote in NCTR's history.
