Biography: James W. ?Jimmy? Gallman, Jr., age 60, died on Thursday, April 5, 2012 at St. Vincent?s Hospital after a brief battle with lung cancer. He was born in Little Rock on May 23, 1951, to Jim Gallman Sr. and Jeanne Marie Fuller. He is preceded in death by his grandparents, Sue and Alston Fuller and Inez and Robert Gallman; his father; his brother, John Alston Gallman and cousins, Robin Harvey, Cathy Frawley and Jerrye Embrey. Jimmy was a life-time resident of Little Rock. He graduated from Hall High School and attended UALR and the U of A at Fayetteville, where his primary interest was history. The love of his life was photography, which he pursued in many ways; while at Hall he took all of the informal pictures used in the 1969 annual. He worked at Color Print on Lewis Street, developing and printing for the community. Later he was the manager of the camera department at Woolco on 65th Street. At home he developed and printed for many years for himself and family. Commercially he became a dealer and broker of camera and photographic merchandise. Jimmy?s focus was on houses, landscapes, flowers and trees, though he did many photographs for family and church gatherings. Jimmy is survived by his mother, Jeanne Marie Fuller Akins; sisters, Janet P. Gallman (Bill Ricker), Judith M. Gallman (Stephen Buel); step-sister, Suzanne Akins; cousins, Sally Derbyshire Jones, Diane Derbyshire Kelly, Victoria Harvey, Chris Harvey and Katie Hicks and a few loving second cousins. Jimmy was a member of Our Lady of the Holy Souls Catholic Church from birth. He will be buried in the columbarium there following a memorial mass on Monday, April 9, 2012 at 11 a.m. officiated by Msgr. John O?Donnell. Following the service friends may come by Jeanne?s house for a visit and refreshments. Memorials may be made to your favorite charity, Friends of the Central Arkansas Library (FOCAL), 100 Rock St, Little Rock, AR 72201 or NAMI Arkansas, 1012 Autumn Rd., Ste. 1, Little Rock, AR 72211. I'm so sorry to hear about Jimmy. I remember all the fun we had with our friends on Lefever Lane as children. Jimmy was always the head of our "science expeditions" in the neighborhood and we spent many summer afternoons looking for interesting rocks and bugs. I know he grew up to be a fine person and I am so sad that you have lost him. Kathy Goodgame Taylor
