Biography: Charles Irwin “Charlie” Martin, Sr., age 78, of Little Rock died at the Pleasant Valley Living Center on Tuesday, January 3, 2006 after a lengthy illness. He was born October 14, 1927 in DeWitt to Porter E. and Stella Martin, and graduated from Little Rock High School in 1948. He had a productive career in sales, retiring from the Washington Manufacturing Company. Charles was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church and the Triune Sunday School Class. Mr. Martin is survived by his wife of 55 years, Betty McLaughlin Martin, of Little Rock; son Charles Irwin Martin, Jr., and daughter-in-law, Lisa, of Arlington, TX; and daughter, Beverly Martin, of Little Rock; grandsons, Brett McCormack, serving with the U.S. Air Force, and Keith and Gregory McCormack of Little Rock, and Charles Irwin Martin III and granddaughter, Audrey Paige Martin, both of Arlington, TX, and sister-in-law, Dorothea Martin, of Alexander. He was preceded in death by brothers, Porter E. and Wylie S. Martin, and sister, Ruth Martin. There will be a visitation Thursday from 5-7:00 p.m. at Ruebel Funeral Home followed by a funeral service at 11:00 a.m. Friday at the Ruebel Chapel officiated by Rev. Louann Averitt Murphy and Rev. David Steele. Burial will follow in Pinecrest Memorial Park. Memorials may be made to Trinity United Methodist Church or to a favorite charity.
