Charles, my sympathy to you and your family. My mom is now 94. I just happened to see this about your mom. I will be working during the service today but will be saying a prayer for you all. It has been 35 years since I was transferred w/JCPenney away from LR when I think you were still there. E-mail me if you would like while you are in town. I would love to hear from you. Barner

My prayers are with you in the loss of your Mom. A couple of years ago I was walking into Presbyterian Village and heard a voice I recognized from my youth (Helen Hoke). I stopped and visited with her a moment. I told her that I remembered she always drank iced coffee. She told me she still did. Your Mom always seemed so happy and lived to laugh.

Helen was one of the first people to come to my mother and grandmother's home when my grandfather passed away nearly 30 years ago. She was a sweet lady, and I always loved her sence of humor. She will be missed, but I know that she is in a better place now.

Helen was a dear friend of my grandmothers, Martha Lorenz. My sister and I have some great memories of my grandmother, Helen and all of their friends sitting around the table playing bridge talking and laughing. I know that they are now in heaven playing again with their loved ones by their sides. She was such a sweet person! Say Hi to Mop and Pop for me Helen. And to Helen's family, our thoughts and prayers are with you all.

Mrs. Hoke was a good friend of my mother, Elisabeth Campbell, and I have fond memories of her hearty laugh. They worked together on planning the reunion of their Little Rock High School graduating class and, after one meeting, spent a terrifying few hours navigating streets covered with black ice to get back home. What a story that made!
