My dear friend "Babe" was very special...genuinely loyal. We lived near each other in St. Louis and had many delightful times there, and our friendship continued after her return to Little Rock, where both of us grew up. I have missed her company and lately her sweet, funny letters. It made me sad to hear of her decline these last few years.
Rest in peace, Babe.
With sympathy to all who loved her, too...

I thought Babe Grinnell was the best first grade teacher I ever knew. She was a joy to be with, she loved the children and was a good friend in those years! She loved to sing and dance and spent many good times with us at Bruno's way back when!

Mrs. Grinnell' was my first grade teacher in 1960/61. She was also principal of the Cathedral School for my entire elementary school education. Those were very special years. She helped make those years wonderful for me.
God bless you Mrs. Grinnell's!

Mrs.Grinnell was the BEST 1st Grade teacher! A loving teacher & loved students. Her 1960-61 Trinity Cathedral School children still talk about her -- a wondeful lady. Mary, your true condolences from all of the Penicks.

Mary, I remember eating peanut butter and banana sandwiches in the kitchen at Mary Dodge's house on Cedar Street. Do I also remember dill pickle and mayonaise sandwiches, or is that just a bad dream??

The picture of your mom brought a flood of memories of her, and you, and, of course Mary Dodge. Such special ladies...

Cedar Street had the best neighbors and friends...

As a student in her very "first" first grade class at the Cathedral Day School we referred to her simply as "Mrs. Grinnel." Certainly she left indelible impressions in my young mind and that of other Cathedral students. As principal she engendered fear in those students whose conduct directed them to her office. Plain spoken with kids and their parents. A perfect compliment to the disciplinarian nature of the Very Reverend Charles A. Higgins a/k/a "Dean Higgins." Those were great years. God Bless her.
