Biography: Helen Scott Manville, 69, of Little Rock, Arkansas, passed away at home on Friday, August 25, following a lengthy battle with cancer. She was born August 11, 1937, in Morrilton, the daughter of Rachel Scott and the late Brad Scott. She grew up in Jonesboro and in Little Rock, where she graduated from Little Rock Central High School in 1955. She attended the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville and was a member of Kappa Kappa Gamma. She married James G. Manville of Mt. Ida on June 7, 1958. They lived in St. Louis and Atlanta, where she was a much-loved elementary school secretary for more than 20 years. She and her husband returned to Little Rock following their retirements. She was a devoted wife and mother of two children. She was involved in her children’s schools and in her church throughout her life. In Little Rock, she was an active member of P.E.O., Second Presbyterian Church, and the Brodie Creek Homeowners Association. She enjoyed traveling with family and spending time with her four grandchildren, whom she loved dearly. She is survived by her husband of 48 years James G. Manville of Little Rock; her mother Rachel Scott of Little Rock; her children, Scott Manville and wife Karen of Brooklyn, New York, and Molly McDuffie and husband Scott of Sumter, South Carolina; her grandchildren Kate and James Manville, Drew and Parker McDuffie; and her sister Mary Agnes Parse and husband Allan of Little Rock. Visitation will be 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. on Sunday, August 27, 2006 at Ruebel Funeral Home. Memorial services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, August 28, at Second Presbyterian Church officiated by Rev. Dr. Karen K. Akin. Graveside services will follow at 3:00 p.m. at Mt. Ida Cemetery in Mt. Ida.
