Biography: Libby Jane Price Sharp, 67, of Maumelle, closed her final campaign on Wednesday, December, 14, 2011. She was born on March 28, 1944, in Little Rock to Elizabeth and Gordon Price. Libby was an active volunteer with the Arkansas Republican Party and an integral part of many local and statewide campaigns, most recently the successful campaign of U.S. Sen. John Boozman. She was a proud member of The Broads, the Box B Bridge Bunch and an honorary member of the Loop Ladies. Libby was reunited in Heaven with her parents and husband, Jacob Sharp, Jr. She is survived by her only child, a son, James Mark Carter, Jr., (Anne) of Little Rock; two grandsons, William and Luke; two sisters, and three pets: Torky, Sluggo and J.G. Libby was raised in Little Rock but spent much of her childhood on the Price family farm in Arkansas City (Desha County), where she roamed the river bottoms with her first cousin, Arkansas House Speaker Robert Moore. She graduated from Lonoke High School and attended classes at Ole Miss for two years before returning to Little Rock, where she later took classes at UALR. Libby was an entrepreneur, starting with a toy shop she opened in the late 1960s on the Sangley Point U.S. Naval base in the Philippines; she was an extensive world traveler, having visited every continent except Africa and Antarctica; she was an avid reader, a Razorback, a Coke girl, a lover of Reese?s and rare steaks. Most of all, she was a beloved mother, wife and friend. Those who called her friend couldn?t have hoped for a stronger ally. She was a longtime member of Grace Presbyterian Church and most recently had become a regular attendee of Windsong Church of Christ. Memorial services will be held Monday, December 19, at 2 p.m. at Second Presbyterian Church, officiated by Rev. Karen Akin. A remembrance ceremony will be held Monday at 3:30 p.m. at Maumelle Country Club. Arrangements by Ruebel Funeral Home, www.ruebelfuneralhome.com. Memorials can be made to North Pulaski Republican Women and the Pulaski County Humane Society.

Mark,
I only learned of your loss a couple of weeks ago. Benton may as well be on the moon!! I will say I don't take a Little Rock newspaper, but this has taught me I should. I would like to speak to you so if possible, please call me at 501-249-6902, Although we were not as close as when I lived in Little Rock, I loved her dearly. She told everyone she forced me to become her friend! I am certainly glad she did.Sincerely, Becky Terrien

A cousin and a friend, a special kinship and kindred spirit. She so loved our family, especially Ree. I will miss her, too.

Mark...so sorry to hear of the loss of your Mom. I lost my Dad in December two years ago. My gut feeling tells me your sense of humor came from your mother which is an incredible legacy you'll always treasure. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family.

I firat met my dear friend Miss Libby back in the G.W. Buzh re-elelction campaiagn of 1996. we shared the same desk at the Atrium, and it was a never -forgetable experience. Our relationshiip could be considered as a love-hate relationship. Libby was a very close friend of mine after our rocky start.. I must say that MIss Libby did become one of my very best friends and supporters. We both loved Republican Poliiics and a great steak (and Dancing with the Stars). Miss Libby thought that I was at her beckon calll, and i often was. Miss LIbby, yoj shall be sorely missed by me!!!!

Libby and I are the same age. We became friends as teenagers while taking ballet at the Reamy School of Dance in L.R. We both loved every minute of it! I remember her mother & her younger sister Desha. Even though we hadn't seen each other in 50 years, I've thought about her often! I know her family will miss her dearly because she was always so much fun to be with!
This comes with my deepest and most heartfelt sympathy.
Sincerely, Darby Cook Blair

Mark - I am not sure if we ever met, but my dad was Ray Cooper, who was a very close friend of Libby's. Libby and Jake threw me one of the best engagement parties I had at their fabulous home. Libby was a unique person and I will never forget the first time I met her, probably 30 years ago, in the Flaming Arrow Supper Club. She came in the room and all heads turned - there she was in a fabulous hat, and was dressed to kill. She was such an amazing woman and I will never forget her. You have my deepest sympathies in your loss. I had not seen her for several years but about 6 months ago she came by the hotel where I worked for a meeting and we got to catch up. I am thankful I had that opportunity! God bless your family.

I met Libby as a result of my husband James working in the Bush campaign with Phyllis K. We connected from the beginning because she needed a "short" challenge and I needed her "tall" challenge! James and I enjoyed EVERY minute of it!

Earrings were her trademark and I will never forget the day she showed me her collection!!!

We will miss you very much Libby!!!

I first met Libby in 1992, on an elevator in the Twin City Bank Building in North Little Rock. We were both first-time visitors to Republican Headquarters to volunteer in the campaign to re-elect President George H. W. Bush. She was wearing knee pants with suspenders, bright plaid knee sox, BIG earrings that hung to her shoulders, and a go-to-Hell hat that covered up her bad hair day. We liked each other immediately...and that was the beginning of a friendship that never faltered - until now.
Mark, with time, the pain of the last couple of months (or more) will fade for you and Anne and the boys. Enjoy the memories that make you smile. Enjoy your mom's plaid knee socks.

Libby Jane's picture is so bright and beautiful! We knew each other as children growing up on North University in Little Rock. We lost contact and now I am so sad to see that she is gone. I am thinking about Libby's family during this special time.

We will miss our Libby, her smiles, fun and her Libby"tude" . Libby was a unique lady that always presented herself as only Libby could, always being true to herself and to her friends.

Heaven will be much brighter with Libby, i can only imagine with a smile on my face when she walks through St. Peter's gate what she will be wearing!

God bless our Libby, may you rest in peace.
