Biography: James Edward ?Jim? Madigan passed away peacefully at Presbyterian Village in Little Rock on Sunday, November 13, at the age of 89. Born November 2, 1922, in Little Rock, Arkansas, son of Mr. and Mrs. James I. Madigan, James Madigan attended Catholic schools and graduated from Catholic High School in 1939. He was a 1943 cum laude graduate of the University of Notre Dame, South Bend, Indiana, with a BSC in accounting. Jim was a certified public accountant, a retired partner of Baird, Kurtz and Dobson, a national CPA firm, and served as a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, the Arkansas Society of Certified Public Accountants, and past president of the Arkansas State Board of Public Accountancy. Locally, Jim was a member of the Board of Directors, treasurer, and past president of the American Diabetes Association; a member of the Board of Directors and past president of St. Joseph?s Home for Children; a member of the finance committee for Holy Souls Catholic Church; former director and past president of the Little Rock Club; and former director of The Arkansas Catholic and the Allen Exceptional School. He was a member of the Board of Directors and treasurer of the Shepherd?s Center of Little Rock, now Life Quest of Arkansas. He also was a member of the Catholic Diocese of Little Rock Advisory Board, former director of St. Vincent Infirmary, and former member of the finance committee of the Foundation Board for St. Vincent Infirmary. He was a fourth degree Knight of Columbus, a charter member of the Little Rock Serra Club, a member of the Equestrian Order of the Knights of the Holy Sepulchre, and a communicant at the Cathedral of St. Andrew. Family remember a devoted father who loved God and the Catholic Church, spoke just enough foreign languages to embarrass his wife on overseas trips, and spouted Latin epigrams or goofy limericks as occasion demanded. His friends recall an avid golfer at Little Rock Country Club and a gentleman who still opened doors for his wife. Jim was married to the former Mary Jane Richardson of Little Rock, the father of five children, grandfather of ten, and great grandfather of seven. He is survived by Christopher and Nancy Madigan and family of Albuquerque, New Mexico; Sallie and Bob Holliman and family of Cameron Park, California; Kathleen and Ray Muehlman and family of Charleston, West Virginia; Steve Madigan and family of Little Rock, Arkansas; and Melissa King Madigan, also of Little Rock. A visitation will be held on Wednesday, November 16, at Ruebel Funeral Home, 6313 W. Markham, 6:30 PM, with a Rosary starting at 7:00 PM. Mourners will celebrate a requiem mass at the Cathedral of St. Andrew, 617 Louisiana St., on Thursday, November 17, at 10:00 AM. Graveside service will be private.
