Biography: Sue Carolyn ?Kakie? Gregory Sims, age 82, of Jonesboro, Arkansas, now living in Little Rock, died on August 31, 2011. She was born in Jonesboro, the daughter of the late Mode and Carrie McIntosh Gregory. Mrs. Sims was a graduate of Jonesboro High School and received her degree in education from Arkansas State University. She was a public school teacher for 15 years. From 1975-85 she and her husband lived in Belgium, Holland and England where he was the administrator of American schools in Europe. Kakie was a member of First United Methodist Church of Jonesboro and loved bird watching, her flowers, and being with her canine companions. In the 1960?s and 70?s she and her husband Charles E. Sims, who died in 2001, were very active in the ?Lay Renewal Ministry? and helped lead several Faith-at-Work conferences. Kakie is survived by one son Dr. Greg Sims and wife Helen of Marshall, North Carolina; two daughters: the Reverend Susan Sims Smith and husband Dr. G. Richard ?Rick? Smith of Little Rock and Lynn Sims of Edgemont, Arkansas; three grandchildren: Dr. Rose Smith and her husband Dr. Josh Cisler of Little Rock, Rachel and McKinley Meadows of Asheville, North Carolina and Walter Sims of Ashville, North Carolina; one cousin Helen Freeze of Jonesboro, a sister-in-law Dell Pollard of West Memphis,Arkansas; and several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 5-7 pm on Thursday, September, 1st at the home of Rick and Susan Sims Smith at 1809 Canal Point in Little Rock.
