I have known Barbara for 60 yrs since we were classmates and friends at LR Junior College. I am shocked at her death , and dismayed that another light has turned off in our life's drama leaving a darker and duller world without this unique personality to enliven it.

I was sad to hear about Dr. B. She was definitely one of a kind. A very kind person and a very funny one too. I have many fond memories of the times we spent together and they will live on forever.

It's been a while since I last spoke with or saw Barbara, but have always revered her. She was an inspiration to me and encouraged me during my college years to become the best professional that I could be. I am saddened by her passing, but will always fondly remember her.

Dr. B was the best. I knew her from the time she came to Rison when I was very young. Then when I worked at Doctors Hospital in Little Rock, one of her medical school colleagues, Dr. Henry Johnson, tld me once she had the most delicate of hands and would have been a surgeon had she been a man. I knew she was very talented because I was in her office at noon one day when a man came in whose hand had been caught in the trough of a cement truck. Dr. B had no one to help her and she asked if I would come back to assist her. She asked me if I could deal with it. I thought a moment and back i went. I held as she instructed and she sewed up one side of all of the fingers and turned his hand over and sewed up the backside of his fingers. They were very delicate stitches and she was calm and calming the entire hand. She was a master.

Our family loved Dr. B and knew she was a talented and compassionate physician. We will always remember her fondly and know that her next life she will give as much as she did in her first life.

Dr. B was a nice lady. It is difficult to express how much my family loved her. She was a pioneer in a small town.

I was sorry to read about the death of Barbara. She obviously served the needs of many people in career.

Barbara was in the Little Rock High School Class of May 1949. She had attended East Side Junior High School and I remember her. I verified her participation the East Side Junior High Journal dated January 18, 1946. She was in the 9A Class that graduated in January 1946 when we moved on to Little Rock High School.

In the Little Rock Telephone Directory for November 1946, there were two Barksdale listings (1) Mrs. Mildred Barksdale, residing at 1810 Spring Street and (2) Mrs. R. A. Barksdale, residing at 2309 Battery. I assume that Barbara lived on Spring Street since that was in the East Side Junior High territory.

Although I have not lived in Arkansas for many years, I do remember my classmates from those special times when we were teenagers.

Barbara and I shared many classes at East Side and LRHS.

I was saddened to read of Dr.B's death. We shared excitement over Rison football wins and competed (weekly for years)against each other at duplicate bridge.
Please know that you are in my thoughts and prayers along with
my appreciation for the many memories that Dr. B. left with us.
Sincerely,
