Biography: Camille Waldron Fitzhugh Ellis, age 93, of Little Rock, died Sunday, August 7, 2011. She was born in Black Rock, Arkansas the daughter of the late R.C. and Lucille Steadman Waldron. Camille graduated from Walnut Ridge High School and in 1940 received her degree in history form the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville where she was an active member of the Kappa Kappa Gamma Sorority. In 1942 she joined the U.S. Navy who sent her to Smith College now Harvard University where she was awarded her commission as Ensign in the Navy. Following graduation she was assigned duty in Oregon as a supply officer. After the war she moved to Little Rock to continue her employment with the Fitzhugh and Cockrill Law Firm. In 1948 she married Thomas Fitzhugh who died in 1954. During this time Camille was a member the Junior League of Little Rock, Aesthetic Club and the Country Club of Little Rock where she enjoyed playing golf each week. In 1966 she moved to Washington, D.C. marrying Clyde Ellis, former United State Representative from Western Arkansas. She continued her love of golf being a life time member of the Congressional Country Club. After Clyde?s death in 1980 Camille moved back to Little Rock in 1989 where she was once again active in golf becoming President of the Women?s Golf Association at the Little Rock Country Club, which included being a member of the Tuesday Morning Golf Club. She also enjoyed playing bridge and was a member of the Little Rock Duplicate Bridge Club becoming a Gold Life Master. Camille loved to travel spending 20 plus years seeing every country in Eastern and Western Europe with Russia her favorite. She is survived by four sons; Davis G. Fitzhugh and wife, Brenda of Little Rock, James Fitzhugh of Little Rock, Bay Fitzhugh and wife, Dorrie of Augusta, Arkansas, and Edward Fitzhugh of Florida; one brother, Tom Waldron of Walnut Ridge, Arkansas; one sister, Inez Riggs and husband, Orval of Little Rock, and one grandson, Andrew Fitzhugh. There will be a visitation Tuesday, August 9, 2011 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Ruebel Funeral Home followed by a funeral service Wednesday, August 10, 2011 at 10 a.m. at Trinity Episcopal Cathedral officiated by The Reverend Russ Snapp. Burial will follow with a graveside service at 1pm at the Augusta Memorial Park in Augusta.
