Dr Holt was professor in a Technical Writing class I took at LSU in 1993. Stern in teaching, witty in conversation, and willing to make you a better writer, if you so desired it. I have great memories of him from that class and beyond. I'm sure he is missed.

Doug was a great mentor and wonderful friend. I always enjoyed stopping by his office to hear Doug's poetic account of the events of the day. He was a joy to be around.

Our thoughts and prayers are with Doug's family. He was a source of valuable information for an 18 year freshman at Ole Miss in 1976. Thanks for the great memories on the sidelines at Ole Miss Rebel football games.

I took a Technical writing course with Dr. Holt in 1994 at LSU. He was a great instructor. I remember the picture that he had in his office of him dressed in a bishops outfit. My deepest condolences to his family.

Lee, Mayme, Timmy & Mike,
Doug was one of a kind. All these years later I still use some of his spectacular one-liners. He was kind enough to put up with me when I was an obnoxious child and I send all of you my love and prayers for your tremendous loss.

Dougie, I will miss you dearly. And I apologize for all the times I influenced you to exclaim, 'deliver me!' in response to one of my many tales of my critters' travails. You provided many laughs and smiles over the years and I am forever grateful for your friendship.

Very much saddened to hear of Douglas' death.

"... and, when he shall die,
Take him and cut him out in little stars,
And he will make the face of Heaven so fine
That all the World will be in love with night
And pay no worship to the garish Sun."
