Biography: Patricia Ann Solem Coleman ,widow of Mr. John Ely Coleman, died Wednesday July 27, 2011. She was born October 3, 1935 in Hot Springs ,South Dakota. She was the daughter of the late Colonel and Mrs. Arthur Edwin Solem. As the daughter of Colonel Solem, a West Point Graduate and highly decorated Army veteran, Mrs. Coleman, "Pinky", grew up all over the United States, including Puerto Rico, as the Colonel's orders were given and they moved from base to base. Through her youth, she was an avid golfer, and an accomplished horsewoman. Upon graduating from Marjorie Webster College in New York, she pursued a career in teaching. Mrs. Coleman truly loved the children she educated and made an impact on so many through the years. Upon retiring, she divided her time between being, a loving wife, mother of three children, and grandmother of four granddaughters. She also gave her time as a volunteer to her church and various other organizations. Mrs. Coleman was so proud to be a member of the "D.U.S.A." Society of Daughters of the United States Army, serving as President for one year. She was also a member of The Daughters of the American Revolution. Her passion to entertain during every holiday, birthday, or any other day for gathering her friends and family was unmatched. She enjoyed her home and loved to garden and care for her many pets. She was passionate to have things as perfect as possible, and would not hesitate to make sure directions were followed under her guidance! Mrs. Coleman is survived by her three children, Dr. John Ely Coleman of New Jersey, Anne Dudley Coleman Barnwell, and Charles Mattern Coleman. Also by John's wife Diane Coleman and daughters, Charlotte and Caroline Coleman. Anne's husband, Bartly Williams Barnwell and daughter Alexandra Frances Barnwell. Charles's daughter Catherine Elisabeth Coleman and her mother Jeanna Clements Coleman of Conway. The service for Mrs. Coleman will be held Wednesday August 3, 2011 at 11:00 am. in Trinity Episcopal Cathedral in Little Rock. A reception will follow at the Cathedral in Morrison Hall.
