Biography: Geneva Guthrie, 92, of Little Rock, died Wednesday, July 20, 2011. Born in Lone Star community of Sebastian County, now Fort Chaffee, she attended Greenwood schools and Arkansas Polytechnic College, where she began her career with the Arkansas Department of Education, which would span five decades. Geneva was the widow of M.E. (Mickey) Guthrie, who died in 1979. She was also preceded in death by sisters, Mildred Ralston, Lucille Andrews and Nyna Keeton. Immediate survivors are a sister, Mescal Johnston and a daughter, Gail Guthrie, both of Little Rock. Three nieces and two nephews also survive. A faithful Christian, Geneva was the last surviving charter and continuous member of Pulaski Heights/Pleasant Valley Church of Christ since 1947. Geneva was blessed with boundless energy and channeled that energy into service for others. She was an active member of the Pilot Club International for many years. Geneva volunteered for Red Cross, Arkansas Children?s Hospital, the Democratic Party and the Clinton Library. Many sought her skills of writing, editing and her knowledge of parliamentary procedure. Geneva could not have lived the life she led without the support of many dear friends and neighbors; especially Carolyn Allbright, Geneva?s next door neighbor and caregiver. The family also wishes to thank the caring staff of Presbyterian Village. A funeral service will be held Saturday, July 23, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at Ruebel Funeral Home, 6313 W.
