Jim, you will be sorely missed. A great dad, fun brother, loving husband, and respected member of the community. You left a giant hole that needs filling!!! I almost imagine Jim is back to his fighting weight and gathering people to play soccer up in heaven--he calls debs to be the coach. Look out above, he always coaches winning teams.
Love you always, Janet

I had the Privilege of having Dr. Mittelstaedt as my Professor at SEARK in Pine Bluff 14 years ago. I can honestly say I would never have made it through the 2 years getting my pre-reqs for RN school without his encouragement!! He was my Mentor and my Friend and I am truly going to miss him!!!! By seeing all of these posts I can see I not the only one whose life he touched. My sincere condolences to his family and may you feel God's comforting presence through the coming days!! He was a very special friend to me-- one I'll never forget.

Matt,

While I did not have the pleasure of knowing your Dad his fruit is very evident in you. My prayers, thoughts and sympathy is with you. I can not help but think the first gift he received from our heavenly Father was a soccer ball and said ?teach us?. His light of humility, gentleness, wisdom and high expectation for constant improvement is glowing through the prism of you. May you find peace in knowing he was a great man in all respects.

As one of the many to whom Coach Mittelstaedt devoted so much selfless time and energy, I just want to say thank you. I remember him as a rock of a man: remarkably patient, kind, generous, good-humored, and persistent in getting us to do the right thing on and off the field. I'm lucky to have his influence in my life.

Such a loss. I was on Coach Mittelstaedts soccer teams from age 7 to 18 and i learned about alot more than soccer from him. Looking back now it seems he was selfless with us kids. He would pile the lot of us into the van and drive us all over the region for tournaments. All of the personnel time he gave for us is not forgotten as i think about those great times often. I will forever remember him in a Red Tornado shirt. My thoughts and prayers to Mrs. M., Stephen, Matthew and Anne.

Fred and I offer our sympathy to the Mittlestaedt family. Jim was such a guiding light for the development of soccer in Little Rock and devoted such quality time to coaching and referee duties. He actually officiated the very first game that our son Jonathan played! We know he would have been so proud of Matthew's accomplishments with the U-17 soccer team.
