Biography: Billy Joe Stringfellow, 81, left this life on July 1, 2011, at Saline Memorial Hospital Hospice House after a courageous battle with Alzheimer?s, Dementia and Parkinson?s disease. He had a love for antique tractors and equipment, and spent many hours tinkering with them. He and his family spent many summers on Lake Ouachita at Navy Landing and at his home away from home in Pangburn. He loved music and would entertain everyone with his rendition of Hank Williams and Johnny Cash hits. Bill was a gifted story teller and spent many hours outside gathered around friends and family smoking his pipe and spinning yarns. He had several nicknames such as ornery, string bean, and chicken plucker. He was born on July 28, 1929, to David Frank Stringfellow and Dora Etta (Vardell) Stringfellow. Born in Gravel Hill, he was the youngest of ten children. He retired from Central Transport in 1994 after a lifelong career as a truck driver. He served in the United States Marine Corps Reserve from 1947-50. He married the love of his life, Dorothy Sherron DuVall, on February 18, 1950, and enjoyed 50 wonderful years of marriage before her death in 2000. They were blessed with four children: Vicki Lorraine Stringfellow, Deborah Sharon Joe Lennox and husband Michael, Billy Ray Stringfellow and wife Barbre Ann, and Carol Denise Waddle and husband Anthony. He is survived by his four children, seven grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, and three sisters. The family requests that donations be sent to the Saline Memorial Hospital Hospice House, 23157 I-30, Bryant, AR 72022. The family would like to thank the hospice staff for their exceptional care and devotion to their father during his last days. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, July 5, 2011 from 5:00 to 7:00 PM at Ruebel Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM on Wednesday, July 6, 2011 at Hurricane Lake Baptist Church in Bryant. Burial will follow in Pinecrest Memorial Park.
