Biography: Betty Izard Blackwood, 84, died June 18, 2011 at Arkansas Hospice. She was born December 23, 1926, in Van Buren, Arkansas, the daughter of Clyman and Bessie Maude Izard. Betty, know as Bebe to her friends and family, graduated from Van Buren High School and the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville. She, like her mother, was a Chi Omega; she was a member the Junior League of Little Rock and belonged to First United Methodist Church. Bebe married Chet Blackwood in 1950. They had three children and many loving friends. Bebe is remembered for her wit and great attitude about life. She is survived by her children Boyd and Julie Blackwood, Mark and Mimi Blackwood and Betsy Blackwood Willis; her siblings, Clyman Izard Junior and his friend Ed Holland, and John Dicken and Susan Izard, five grandchildren, four great grandchildren, five nieces and six grandnieces and grandnephews. She was preceded in death by her husband Chet. Visitation will be held at Ruebel Funeral Home from 5 to 7 p.m., Monday, June 20, 2011. A funeral service will be held at First United Methodist Church, 723 Center St., Little Rock on Tuesday, June 21, 2011 at 10:30 a.m. with Rev. Dr. Michael Mattox officiating followed by burial at Roselawn Memorial Park. Gifts in her memory may be made to the First United Methodist Church.
