A light has gone off in the world with the death of Somers. His divine spirit was large as evidenced by all these beautiful comments about him. Some hilarious times were had by us all, including at least one Christmas Eve. I'll always be thankful of his sweet generosity, kindness, and friendship to my daughters, Blair and Bret. Jim and I send our deepest sympathy and our wishes for healing.

Ohhh Somers, I am really going to miss you and hearing you say my name on the phone..."Ms Kelly is that you? Hows it goin' or whats up?" You were always so friendly to me and truly interested in my little life :) I only knew you through work, but I bet you were like that with all the people you came in contact with. I am very sad :( for you and for your family. If I had the chance to talk to you again I would have alot to tell you this time...I went on a Misson trip with the youth at Saint Anne's Catholic Church and we went to Chattanooga TN and did service to help others, we worked hard and made a big difference in their society and it felt good to give back and do for others with nothing in return, we just "Gave it up for God" and I gave it all for you, I pray that your soul finds peace and that our loving, forgiving Lord leads you home to him...May God bless you and bless your family and my our Holy Mother Mary be by your side to comfort you. Always your friend, Ms. Kelly

I am not sure that you ever met a stranger. And you opened your house to everyone. You were a tremendous patron of the arts in this town, and treated children with kindness, respect, and dignity. You were always glad to see my son, and ask about him, offer help with algebra homework, and you always had fun things for the kids to do at your parties. I was always glad to see you, and you always had laughs and encouragement to share. Too brief a time. We all wish there was more. rest in peace, Dear Sir. You are missed dearly here.

Dearest Baucom, Alice, Justin, Lisa, and family:

I loved your Dad. He was a surprising, wonderful and amazing friend and a fabulous cook! I loved the "tree house" and his love of kids. He adored you children and did his best to be a Dad to you and others who needed a Dad. We shared the issues of depression and "a dark night of the soul" but we also shared our faith in Jesus and knew if we just kept walking towards the light, we'd get there. He got there first... damn. I KNOW he's laughing now! Love, Sara Hawkins-Riley and Rebecca, Steph, Jen, and Sebia Hawkins family of LR.

Somers - When the road was hard for your friends, you were always there to pick us back up, share a smile, make us laugh with uncontrollable hilarity. YOU gave us back the spirit we needed to persevere, keep moving forward, finding the beauty in life. I am so sad that we couldn't do the same for you. Hoping you have found peace, my friend. Love you forever, Stacy

After horrible news about a good friend, I enjoyed a lovely, very Southern night. To luxury, to decadence, to your love of and genuine curiousity about people. To your sweet soul and desire and drive to make a difference, I toast you sweet friend. You took me seriously as a 14 year old. That, and the many fond memories of you that I have will be a gift to me all my livelong days. Cheers to you, Somers!
