Biography: Judge Richard B. Adkisson, 78, of Little Rock, died Wednesday, May 18, 2011. He retired as Chief Justice of the Arkansas Supreme Court in 1984 and had served terms as Prosecuting Attorney and Circuit Judge of the 6th Judicial district for Pulaski and Perry Counties. He was born October 12, 1932, a son of Sam E. Adkisson and Kathleen Blanks Adkisson of Mt. Vernon. He attended Mt. Vernon, Conway and Russellville public schools; Served in the USAF from January 1951 to July 1954; attended the University of Arkansas, Fayetteville, where he received a BSBA in 1957 and LLB in 1959. He was a member of the Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity. Survivors are his wife, Kathy King Adkisson; four daughters, Somers Collins (Andy), Sheb Fisher (Danny), Sterling Fikes (Robbie), of Little Rock and April Johnson (Peter) of New York City; Grandchildren, Andrew, Lila, and William Collins, Kelsey and Kate Trotter, Stephen Fikes, Alasdair Rex Mayer and nephew, Sam E. ?Bo? Adkisson. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother Sam E. Adkisson, Jr., of Lake Village. He was Past President of the Arkansas Prosecuting Attorney?s Association, a member of the American Legion, Immanuel Baptist Church, and the Country Club of Little Rock. The family is grateful to Dr. Bart Barlogie and the staff at UAMS for their outstanding care and support. A funeral service will be held at Immanuel Baptist Church at 501 N. Shackleford, Little Rock, on Friday, May 20, 2011, at 10:30 a.m. with Dr. Gary Hollingsworth officiating. A family internment will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park. General viewing, without the family present, is available from 830 to 430 Thursday, May 19.
