Biography: William R. ?Bill? Thompson, age 70, of Little Rock passed away Wednesday, May 11, 2011, after a brief hard fought battle with cancer. He was born October 9, 1940 in Walcott, Arkansas to the late William Gregg and Manottie Newsom Thompson. Bill graduated from North Little Rock High School in 1958. He attended Henderson State University and graduated from Southwestern Institute of Banking at SMU. He worked for Bank of America for 45 years and was serving as Vice President of Trust at Bancorp South. He was a member of the Pleasant Valley Country Club and an avid golfer. He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Paula Thompson; daughters, Jennifer Platt and husband, Kip of Dallas, Texas and Anna Friemel and husband, Chris of Little Rock, Arkansas; sister, Mary Beth Hamot and husband, Jerry of Sherwood, Arkansas; grandchildren, Audrey and Jillian Platt; niece, Robin Cornett and husband, Kevin of Benton, Arkansas and their children Rachel and Ryan Cornett. A memorial service will be held at Ruebel Funeral Home on Friday, May 13, 2011 at 1:00 p.m. officiated by Msgr. Royce Thomas, followed by a reception at Ruebel Funeral Home.
