Biography: Margaret Magness Houston, age 93, of Little Rock, died Monday, April 11, 2011. Mrs. Houston was born in Prescott, AR on February 11, 1918. She was the daughter of the late Adolphus E. Magness and Linnie Lowdermilk Magness. She was predeceased by her husband of 52 years, Delton in 1991; brother, Robert Magness of Shreveport, LA and sister, Virginia Magness Bell of DeQueen, AR. Mrs. Houston lived in Oil City, LA where her father was employed by Arkansas Natural Gas Company now CenterPoint Energy until 1926, when her father was transferred to Emmet, AR. She lived in Emmet until her marriage in 1939 and resided in Hope until 1952 when they moved to Little Rock. She attended Henderson State Teacher?s College in Arkadelphia (Henderson State University) and Tri-State Hospital School of Nursing in Shreveport, LA. She was an active member of Pulaski Heights United Methodist Church since 1952, having taught Sunday school in the children?s division, served on the administrative board, was a life member of United Methodist Women, serving in many offices in that organization and was a member and past President of the Butler Sunday School Class. Survivors include, three sons and their spouses, Henry and Dana Houston of Houston, TX, Gary and Beth Houston of Little Rock, AR and Richard and Polly Houston of Los Angeles, CA; six grandchildren, Kelly Whitley of Houston, TX, Stephen Houston and wife Mimi of Old Greenwich, CT, Guy Bell of Little Rock, AR, Eric Bell of Washington, D.C., Jake and Amanda Houston of Los Angeles, CA and five great-grandchildren. The family will receive visitors at Ruebel Funeral Home from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, April 13, 2011. Funeral services will be held at Pulaski Heights United Methodist Church on Thursday, April 14, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. with Rev. Lynn Lindsey officiating. Burial will follow in Snell Cemetery in Emmet, AR at 2:00 p.m. Arrangements by Ruebel Funeral Home. www.ruebelfuneralhome.com.
