Biography: Bettye Lewis Cox, 81, passed away Thursday, March 24, 2011 of complications from congestive heart disease. Bettye was born January 28, 1930 in Memphis, Tennessee. She was adopted at 1 month of age by George and Mary Frances Lewis of Harrisburg, Arkansas. She married David Adrian Cox on October 3, 1949. Over the years, Bettye and Dave owned farms in Weiner, Carlisle, Camden, Conway and Paducah, Kentucky. Bettye was a long time dedicated employee of the Tribunal Office at the Catholic Diocese of Little Rock, retiring at the age of 74. She was preceded in death by her husband, and her two beloved sons, David Anthony Cox and William Hugh (Huey) Cox. Survivors include daughters, Stephanie Cox, Theresa (Charles) Baus, Mary (Kent) Byers, and Holley (Jim) Kordsmeier; daughter-in-law, Joyce Cox; eight grandchildren, David, Mark, Natalie, Tim, Shannon, Alexis, Ashley and Rachel and 13 great-grandchildren. Visitation will be held Friday, March 25, 2011 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. followed by a Rosary at 7 p.m. at Ruebel Funeral Home. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday, March 26th at Christ the King Catholic Church at 1:00 pm, officiated by The Very Rev. Msgr. Francis I. Malone with a private burial service to be held later. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Bettye's name to the Catholic Adoption Services, 2500 North Tyler, Little Rock, AR 72207.
