Viola Curti HawesObituary NoticeViola Curti Hawes of Hot Springs Village, Arkansas, was born on May 20, 1922, in Watertown, Massachusetts, and died on November 22, 2005, in Little Rock, Arkansas. She was preceded in death by her parents, Harry and Olive Drewett Curti and her husband, Howard Haldane Hawes, Jr. She is survived by two sons: Howard Haldane Hawes III and his wife Barbara of Little Rock and Randall Kenneth Hawes and his partner Pamela Rankin of Grand Prairie, TX. Six sisters survive: Charlotte Denny of Lexington, KY; Nell DiPalma of Katonah, NY; Olivia Franze of Pine Knoll Shores, NC; Mary Gildersleeve of Bayport, L.I.,NY; Erminia Holz and Harriette Perkins, both of Patchogue, L.I., NY; She is also survived by five grandchildren: Howard Monte Hawes of Memphis, Melinda Hawes of Little Rock, Melissa Williams and Randall Keith Hawes both of Mansfield, TX, and Rebecca Taylor of Burleson, TX. She also is survived by nine great-grandchildren. Mrs. Hawes was an avid fisherman and golfer and enjoyed creative cooking and decorating. She was the women’s golf champion of two different golf clubs in Texas. Her father was a nurseryman on Long Island and she inherited his love of and skill in growing flowers. Visitation will be at Ruebel Funeral Home on Friday, November 25, from 5-7 p.m. A graveside service will be held in Grand Prairie, TX, on Saturday, November 26 at 2 p.m. Officiating will be Father Robert Young of St. Andrews Episcopal Church of Grand Prairie.
