William Faulkner McCombs Hardy
William McCombs Hardy, Sr. age 90, formerly of Little Rock, died January 14, 2005. He was born in Little Rock later graduating from The Hill School in Pottstown, Pennsylvania, before graduating Suma Cum Laude from Princeton University, with a B.S. in Geology. After school he joined the United States Army Air Corps serving during World War II. After the war he began his career as an independent consulting geologist in the oil and gas industry, having done extensive work in Tennessee and Kentucky while residing in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. He was married to Francis Scarborough Hardy who died in 1966. Mr. Hardy was a Presbyterian and a past member of Rotary Club International. He is survived by his present wife, whom he married in 1970, Phynis Laneita Stewart Hardy of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, two sons; William McCombs Hardy, Jr. and wife Victoria of Miramar, Florida, Mosley Wilson Hardy, II and wife Leslie of Charlotte, North Carolina, and 4 grandchildren; William Christopher and John Paul Hardy, and John W. and Jenna Shirey. There will be a graveside service Wednesday afternoon at 2pm at Roselawn Cemetery officiated by Reverend Ann Russ.
