Dorothy Jean Slayden
Obituary NoticeDorothy Jean Slayden, age 89, of Little Rock, died January 4, 2004 in Conway. Born May 23, 1914 in Corsicana, Texas to Dr. John Thomas Hunt and Irene Hopkins Hunt. She was a talented homemaker, a devoted wife, and a loving mother. Dorothy Jean was a faithful devout Christian and a member of Pulaski Heights United Methodist Church since 1948. She was a dedicated member of the Butler Sunday school class. She shared her gifts and service as a Children's division teacher, a pianist, an administrative leader, a member of the Society of St. Steven and the United Methodist Women. Her husband of 57 years, Neil M. Slayden, a daughter, Janeil Wright, a brother, John T. Hunt, and her parents preceded her in death. A daughter, Irene Clark and husband James of Conway, two sons, Joseph N. Slayden and wife Pat of Hot Springs, Preston H. Slayden and wife Karen of Maumelle, four grandsons, Jimmy and Kenneth Clark, Jonathan and Todd Slayden, two great grandsons, Dax and Cole Clark survive her. The funeral service will be at Ruebel Funeral Home on Tuesday, January 6, 2004 at 11 a.m. The family will receive friends at Ruebel's one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow at Gracelawn Cemetery in Tuckerman, AR. Memorials may be made to Pulaski Heights United Methodist Church. Arrangements are under the direction of Ruebel Funeral Home.
