Martha Twing Browning
Obituary NoticeMartha Twing Browning, 69, died on February 11, 2004 in Little Rock, AR. She was preceded in death by her parents, Wainwright Darrow Twing and Estelle Mallory Twing; and a brother, Wainwright Darrow Twing, Jr. She was born January 26, 1935 in Birmingham, AL. She attended schools throughout the country, following her father's career as an engineer. She was employed as a specifications writer with Pettit & Pettit Consulting Engineers Inc. for 23 years. She was a member of the Construction Specification Institute. Her ancestors include three consecutive Episcopal Church ministers from mid 1850 to 1926. Her great great grandmother, Mary Abbott Emery is recognized as the founder of Episcopal Church Women and is prominently honored in the Episcopal Church Archives in Austin, Texas along with her great great grandfather, Alvi Tabor Twing. Martha was an active member of Christ Episcopal Church in Little Rock. She was always reaching out to others with a kind word, gesture or smile, especially the children. She served as Junior Warden and member of the vestry. She spent many tireless hours volunteering at Christ Church Bookstore where she served as co-manager. She was a member of the Aspiring Angels Circle and served on various committees at Christ Church. She also participated in the Episcopal Cursillo in Arkansas. Survivors include her aunt, Margie Mallory Gilbert and husband, Jimmy of Robertsdale, AL; cousins, Alvi Tabor Twing, Jr. and Margaret Twing Simpson of Gulf Shores, AL, James E. Mallory and wife, Darlene of Braselton, GA, Ellen Gilbert Williams and husband, Joe, of Metarie, LA, Rebecca Gilbert Drennen and husband, David of Montgomery, AL, Melvin A. Mallory and wife Bertha, of Houma, AL, Martha Mallory Dolese and husband Robert, of Baton Rouge, LA, Margot Mallory Hensen, and husband, Sam, of Panama City, FL; her Christ Church family; twenty godchildren; many dear friends, and her beloved dog, Jazzie. Memorial service will be held on Monday, February 16, 2004 at 2:00 p.m. at Christ Episcopal Church officiated by The Reverend Larry Benfield. Cremation arrangements are by Ruebel Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Christ Episcopal Church Endowment Fund or to the Pulaski County Humane Society. Register Book
