Obituary Notice

Evelyn Cate Lincoln Ward, age 94, of Little Rock, went to be with her Lord on Monday, October 27, 2003. Evelyn was born on June 28, 1909 in Fayetteville, Arkansas, the daughter of the late James Harvey and Effie Brooks Cate.

Her husband Ernest G. Ward, whom she married July 5, 1956, preceded her in death. Her sisters, Madeleine Thomas and Lela Cole Wiseman, also preceded Evelyn in death. Her sister Brooksie Kirk Lawson of Brentwood, California survives her. Three step grandchildren, two great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews including Nancy Cole Mays and Brooksie Thomas Mathias of Fayetteville survive her.

Evelyn was a graduate of University High School and the University of Arkansas. She had a long time affiliation with the American Association of University Women in Fayetteville and Little Rock. She was a former member of the First Baptist Church in Fayetteville and a current member of Pulaski Heights Baptist Church in Little Rock. She owned Moore's Gift Shop in Fayetteville from 1945-1956.

Funeral services will be held at Pulaski Heights Baptist Church on Wednesday, October 29, 2003 at 2:00 p.m. with Dr. Randy Hyde officiating and Dr. David Moore, Arkansas Baptist Foundation, assisting. Interment will be in Pinecrest Memorial Park in Alexander.

Memorials may be made to the Arkansas Baptist Foundation, 10117 Kanis Road, Little Rock, Arkansas 72205 for the Evelyn Ward Endowment Fund that will perpetually benefit various charities.

Arrangements are under the direction of Ruebel Funeral Home.
