John W. "Bill" Talley, Jr.Obituary NoticeJohn W. "Bill" Talley of Little Rock died Tuesday, June 24, 2003. He was born in Little Rock to John W. and Ella Kilburn Talley. He was a graduate of Mabelvale High School and was a WWII Veteran serving with the U.S. Navy as a Torpedoman 1st Class from 1942 -1946. On January 6, 1947 he married Emily Huggins. After his discharge from the Navy he was employed as a plant engineer for Little Rock Furniture Manufacturing Co. until 1978. He went to work for Orbit Valve as an electrician retiring in 1990. He then enjoyed being a self-employed handyman. He was a member and deacon of South Highland Baptist Church where he also sang with the 39er Singers. Bill is survived by his wife, his children; Billie Garlin and her husband Troy of Arkadelphia, AR, John Talley and his wife, Marcy of Katy, TX and Scott Talley and his wife Suzie of North Little Rock, eight grandchildren, a brother, Lee Talley and his wife June, two sisters, Betty Talley and Shirley Martin and one niece all of Little Rock. He was preceded in death by his parents, a daughter, Patricia Annette Talley and one granddaughter. There will be a visitation held at Ruebel Funeral Home from 5-7 p.m. Thursday followed by a funeral service at South Highland Baptist Church at 2:00 p.m. Friday. Burial will be in Martin Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the UAMS ALS Foundation or a charity of your choice.
