Obituary Notice

LaVerne Rucker Rodgers, age 97, of Little Rock, died Friday, November 14, 2003. She was born in Beebe, Arkansas where she graduated from high school, later graduating from the Saint Vincent Infirmary School of Nursing receiving her Register Nursing Degree in 1930. She and Dr. Clyde W. Rodgers, Sr. were married in 1933. During World War II she served as a Gray Lady. She was a member of the Pulaski Heights Mother’s Club, Riverdale Country Club, now Pleasant Valley Country Club, and Second Presbyterian Church. LaVerne devoted her life to her husband and raising her children.

She is survived by one son, Dr. Dudley Rodgers, Jr. and wife Catherine, of Little Rock, one daughter, Elizabeth Deraps of Houston, Texas, 4 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild.

There will be a graveside funeral service Tuesday at 11am at Roselawn Memorial Park officiated by Reverend Karin Akins. Burial is under the direction of Ruebel Funeral Home.

Memorials in lieu of flowers should be made to Second Presbyterian Church or Presbyterian Village.
