  • Dear Meme, Jane and Tom

To lose Sam so suddenly from our family has us all in shock and full or grief and pain. We wish we were there with you right now, but our love and thoughts and prayers are with you. Because this poem has brought us peace and comfort, we want to share it with you.

    God's Lent Child

“I’ll lend you for a little while a child of mine”, God said, “For you to love the while he’s here and mourn for when he’s dead”.

“It may be just a few years, or many may there be, “But will you, till I call him back, take care of him for Me?”

“He’ll bring his wit to gladden you, but should his stay be brief, “You’ll have precious memories as a solace for your grief.”

“I cannot promise he’ll stay long, since all from earth return, “But some of the lessons taught below, I want this child to learn.”

“I’ve looked the whole world over in search of teachers true, “And from the things that crowd life’s lane, I have chosen you.”

“Will you give him all your love, nor think the labor vain, “Nor hate Me when I come to take this lent child back again?”

I fancied that I heard them say, “Dear Lord, Thy will be done, “For the joys Thy child will bring, the risk of grief we’ll run.”

“We’ll shelter him with tenderness; we’ll love him while we may; “And for the happiness we’ve known, forever grateful stay.”

“But should Thy angels call for him much sooner than we’ve planned, “We’ll brave the grief that comes, and try to understand.” Anon

May God's love surround you - Marilyn, Ray, Laura, Marck, Faby, Aida, Derek and Bryce.
