Obituary Notice

August Edwin Cravens, age 70, of Little Rock, formally of Newport, Arkansas, died Wednesday, December 17, 2003. August was born in Newport, Arkansas where he graduated from Newport High School, class of 1952, later graduating from Arkansas State College in 1956. He served three years in the U.S. Army with duty in Okinawa, Japan. After the service he returned to the States teaching school for several years retiring from Cheyenne Industries. August was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Newport, Arkansas.

He is survived by his sister Betty Lou Cravens Gardner and husband John "Chuck" Gardner of Little Rock, one brother, Lewis A. Cravens and wife Anna Rae of Jonesboro, 2 nephews Price Gardner, and Brooks Cravens, one niece Lisa Gardner Ring, 2 special grand-nieces and 2 special grand-nephews.

There will a graveside memorial service Saturday at 11:00 a.m. at the Sand Hill Cemetery in Auvergne, Arkansas officiated by Reverend Alan Ford. Local arrangements are under the direction of Ruebel Funeral Home.
