Obituary Notice

Bill Lewis Watkins, age 76, of Little Rock, died Sunday, May 13, 2002. He was born in Whiteright, Texas later living in Sulfur Springs, Texas where he graduated from high school. After one year of college at North Texas State University he joined the U.S. Navy. After the war he returned to North Texas State receiving his Masters degree in Micro Biology. He became the Professor of Biology at North Texas State before becoming a Micro Biologist with the Department of The Army at the Pine Bluff Arsenal, from 1957 to 1974. Following retirement he and his wife Marilyn lived in Fairfield Bay, before moving to Little Rock. Bill was a member of Pulaski Heights Methodist Church.

He is survived by his wife of 32 years, Marilyn Smith Watkins of Little Rock, two daughters Shelia Gayle Stauffer and husband Dale of Pine Bluff, Karen Elaine Kazee of Little Rock, one step-daughter Lynda Gail Horn of Russellville, 3 grandchildren Haley Walker, Jason Stauffer, Geoffrey Horn, and is predeceased by a son Allen Lewis Watkins who died in 1971.
There will be a visitation Tuesday from 5 to 7 P.M. at the Ruebel Funeral Home followed Wednesday by a memorial service at 2 P.M. at Pulaski Heights United Methodist Church officiated by Reverend Victor Nixon, Reverend Wayne Smith. Arrangements are under the direction of Ruebel Funeral Home.
