Mary Holt Truemper
Obituary NoticeMary Holt Truemper, age 80, of Little Rock, Arkansas, died Thursday, June 14, 2001, at her daughter's home in Charlotte, NC, following a brief illness. There will be a memorial service Saturday, June 16, at 10:00 am, at St. Mark's Episcopal Church in Little Rock, Arkansas. The interment will be private at Roselawn Cemetery. The family will be at the home of Lyda and Tom Samuel, 173 Pleasant Valley Drive in Little Rock. A native of Little Rock, AR, Mrs. Truemper was the daughter of the late William and Lyda Reid. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Judge J. Frank Holt in 1983. Ms. Truemper is survived by her husband Joe B. Truemper of Little Rock, AR. After graduation from Little Rock High School, she attended Little Rock Junior College (UALR) and later the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville where she majored in business. Mrs. Truemper was a former State Chairman of UNICEF, a volunteer with the Red Cross as well as a former member of the Junior League of Little Rock. Mrs. Truemper was the wife of a lawyer-politician and the mother of two girls, but she still found time to open her own dress shop in Little Rock, The Clothes Horse, which she ran successfully for many years. In 1979 she was elected to the board of directors for the Federal Reserve Bank of St. Louis on which she served for over four years. In addition to her husband, Mrs. Truemper is survived by her two daughters, Lyda Samuel and her husband, Tom of Little Rock, AR, and Melissa Vandiver and her husband, Tom of Charlotte, NC; four grandchildren, Chris and Andrew Samuel of Little Rock, AR, and Ben and Kate Vandiver of Charlotte, NC. The family wishes to offer special thanks to Victoria Parris and Carrie Harris for their loving care. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Justice J. Frank Holt Scholarship Fund, c/o the Arkansas Bar Foundation, 400 West Markham, Little Rock, AR 72201, or to Hospice at Charlotte, 1420 East Seventh Street, Charlotte, NC 28204. Arrangements are in the care of Hankins & Whittington Dilworth Chapel in Charlotte, NC and Ruebel Funeral Home in Little Rock, AR, Arrangements are under the direction of Ruebel Funeral Home. |
