Susan May Tinson Jones

Susan May Tinson Jones

Susan May Tinson Jones passed on to her heavenly realm on December 5, 2017 at the age of 76 years old. She was born in Miami, Florida to Herb and Maude Tinson on November 29, 1941. Susans family moved to Little Rock from Prairie Village, Kansas in 1951 when Susan was in the 5th grade.

She attended Little Rock public schools and was a senior in high school when the high schools were closed because of the integration crisis. She then attended St. Scholastica Academy in Fort Smith for her senior year and lived at the school. She graduated in 1963 from the University of Arkansas with a degree in nursing. She married Dr. Jerry G. Jones, a pediatrician, on March 26, 1966. They celebrated their 51st wedding anniversary this year. Together they raised two sons, Alan and David.

Susan was an active member of Second Presbyterian Church where she served as a deacon and moderator of the Presbyterian Womens organization. She was also very involved with Second Genesis, a prison ministry that helped women leaving prison return to a productive life. Susan was also very active in the Arkansas Symphony Orchestra Guild and co-chaired the gift shop in the Designer House for many years.

Besides volunteering for these organizations, she filled the rest of her time being a housewife and grandmother. She enjoyed photography, traveling, taking care of her grandchildren and helping her friends in need with errands and meals. Susan was very loving and generous. She always made each holiday special for her family and loved a good party. She was an extremely devoted wife, mother, grandmother and friend.

Susan is survived by her loving husband Jerry, sons Alan and David, daughters-in law Audra and Marcela as well as grandchildren Aiden and Allyson. She will be missed by many friends who she considered family.

A memorial service will be held on December 8th, 2017 at 11 am at Second Presbyterian Church followed by a reception.

Memorials may be made to the Little Rock Zoo, the Presbyterian Womens organization of Second Presbyterian Church or a charity of your choice.
