Emily Blair Allen

Emily Blair Allen

Emily Blair Allen, known by many as Meg, passed away on August 20th, in North Little Rock. She was born September 12th, 1926 in Caruthersville, MO to Robert and Forthelia Blair. She is preceded in death by her parents and special friend Perry Pierson.

Her father’s work in the Corps of Engineers caused the family to move many times. She attended 13 different schools, graduating from Caruthersville High School where she played on the basketball team. She later attended Arkansas State University at the same time as her daughter. Both were members of Phi Mu sorority. Emily graduated from ASU with a degree in speech pathology, and later received a masters degree from Phillips University. She worked for many years at United Cerebral Palsy, and later served as Executive Director of the Brain Injury Association of Arkansas. Emily enjoyed helping others. As an active member of Amboy United Methodist Church, she helped found the Amboy Community Food Pantry.

In her spare time, she enjoyed traveling with her daughter and two granddaughters. She enjoyed cooking for family, and looked forward to lunch with her “boys” (son and grandsons).

Emily is survived by her three children: Dub Allen (Jessa) of Hot Springs, Wally Allen (Julie) of Little Rock, and Ashley Ingalls (George) of North Little Rock. She is also survived by her grandchildren: Brandi Allen, Blair Allen (Katherine), Matthew Allen (Diana) all of Little Rock, Catherine Smith (Brett) of Fort Worth, Texas, Lee Allen of Fayetteville and Emily Ingalls of Las Vegas, Nevada. She is also survived by her great grandchildren: Teagan Dailey, Jackson, Thomas and Wallis Allen, Caroline, Colt, Kily, Katelyn and Hannah Smith, Carter Allen and soon to be Dylan Allen.

A visitation with family will take place Wednesday, August 23rd, at 3PM at Amboy United Methodist Church. A memorial service will be held at the same location at 4PM. "My family and I had the pleasure of knowing Ms. Emily and Perry. We worked with them at the Amboy Community Food Pantry when it first started up. The world is a little draker today, and Heaven is a lot brighter, as she slipped the earthly bonds of this world and earned her Henvely Wings.
